Gingerbread Pirate Ship by celacia Gingerbread Pirate Ship by celacia
Gingerbread pirate ship! Filled with gold (chocolate) coins! Yeah. This was challenging - I made a form to bake the gingerbread on, and that worked mostly, but the pieces were all a little warped (except for the deck which was beautiful), which led me to have to be a little creative with the assembly. It is made with gingerbread (obviously), pretzels, and royal icing. This was also my first time using gum paste, and I found it to be interesting to work with (the sail, the flag, and the palm tree are gum paste). The island is made of Trader Joe's eggnog almonds, because they had an awesome, rocky look. Santa (with his awful hat), the treasure chest, and the cannons are marzipan.

That's cute! You actually filled the hold with"gold" coins? I like Santa's hat!
